Longji Terraced Rice Fields Hiking Tour from Dazhai to Ping'an Village

Hiking Route: Dazhai Yao Village - Ping'an Zhuang Village

Hiking along the Terraced Fields is a nice experience. The scenes of farming and the beautiful village scenery will feast your eyes with a pure country life style. Be prepared for some serious walking, as there are many steps on the way. Usually this hike takes around 5 hours.

Longji (Dragon's Backbone) Terraced Rice Fields

At 8:00 am your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby in central Guilin or Yangshuo and start heading toward Dazhai Village (approx. 2 hours).

The rice terraces are built into the mountainsides like ribbons winding around from foot to top. Local villagers have been cultivating on these fields for generations since 600 years ago. Trek up the mountain among the fields while the stunning natural scenery and ethnic villages with their traditional houses feast your eyes. Admire the Longji Rice Terraces from the best viewing points. Witness one of the local custom for women to grow very long hair as long as 1 meter or longer. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel by 7:00 pm.

Trekking into the Rice Fields

Tips: March to April are rainy season in Guilin. The paths are muddy and slippery. Your guide will discuss an alternative hiking route with you according to weather on that day. Zhongliu Village as a supply depot on the half way, if you wish, the guide will introduce a Yao family to you. You'll get a chance to try on their traditional clothes, see their extremely long hair, have lunch together with them in their house.

What Do I Need To Bring

• A high challenge amount of walking is involved. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Additional Info

• The tour guide will contact you through hotel or leave a message for you regarding the exact pickup time the night before tour. 
• If the number of participants are more than 6, we need to transfer to shuttle buses at the scenic area because there is a vehicle restriction for driving up or down the hill. The shuttle bus fee is included in pricing.
• Not wheelchair accessible. Not recommended for travelers with back problems and pregnant travelers.
• Child under 10 is not recommended for this tour.

Cancellation Policy

• We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 48 hours or less before event.
• Ours operate rain or shine. In periods of extreme or unsafe weather, we will discuss with you for alternative arrangements or cancel the tour at our discretion and provide a refund.
