Children Policy

• Children over 8 years old are required to purchase a ticket, and the ticket price is the same as that of an adult.
• Children under 8 years old free of charge. They can occupy a seat with parents and will not be provided an extra lantern or souvenir. However, they can enjoy dinner with their parent during the event.

Cancellation Policy

• More than 90 days before the event: Full refund available.
• 0-89 days before the event: No refund. Any forfeited amount will be donated.
• No changes to names or dates are permitted. Lost tickets cannot be refunded or reissued.
• No-shows: Tickets are non-refundable if you are unable to attend for personal reasons.

Security

• Comprehensive safety support: On-site medical staff, ambulances, fire trucks, and rescue teams are available throughout the event for emergency assistance.
• Professional security management: Police officers and security personnel patrol the venue to ensure a safe and orderly festival environment.
• Follow the ceremony guidelines: Please respect the MC's instructions during prayers, meditation, and the sky lantern release to ensure everyone's safety and preserve the sacred atmosphere.
• Prohibited items: Firecrackers, outside sky lanterns, weapons, gambling equipment, illegal items, alcoholic beverages, smoking, and other prohibited objects are not allowed inside the venue.
• Dress respectfully: Guests are encouraged to wear traditional Lanna Thai attire or neat, modest clothing and participate in all religious activities with respect.

• Is Chiang Mai New Year Lantern Festival the same as Yi Peng Lantern Festival?

No. The Yi Peng Lantern Festival is a traditional Lanna festival usually celebrated in November, while the Chiang Mai New Year Lantern Festival is a special New Year celebration combining sky lantern releases with countdown festivities, cultural performances, and fireworks.

• When do I get the e-Tickets?

Once you complete the payment for your booking, we will email it to you within 12 hours or ASAP. On the day of your tour, simply present the e-ticket on your mobile device to our personnel at the registration booth located at the meeting point. Our staff will then assist you in boarding the shuttle.

• Do we have book in advance?

Definitely your should book for this tour in advance. Ticket might be sold out quickly.

• Drone, smoking and drinking policy?

Alcohol drinking & Smoking are not allowed in the event. Drone is not allow at the venue area.

• Will the floating lanterns cause environmental problems such as earth and water pollution or forest fire?

We will provide traditional Dhammachai lanterns that approved by Thai Industrial Standards TIS808/2552. The lantern is made of natural and recyclable papers and bamboo, all the materials are biodegradable and will not cause pollution. It has a heat-proof wire attached to the candle wick, which will likely quench out after floating up for about 10 minutes. And the heat-proof wire prevents fire or short circuit if the lanterns fall on the high-voltage power transmission cables.
