Overview

The Great Wall of China is one of the world's most visited attractions, but you'll escape the crowds on this small-group, time-saver visit to Mutianyu. Get insider access to one of the least crowded sections of the ancient, UNESCO-listed barricade. Other wall areas require hiking, but you can cover all of Mutianyu by either cable-car, chairlift, or toboggan and be back in Beijing that same day.

Itinerary

10:30 am - 12:30 pm, Hotel pickup and drive to the Great Wall at Mutianyu.

You will be picked up from your hotel between 10:30 am and 11:00 am. Drive to the Great Wall section at Mutianyu which will take about 1½ hours and you will have a lunch break before going up.

12:30 pm - 3:30 pm, Visit the Great Wall at Mutianyu.

Lunch is not included in this pricing. Most of our customers buy some takeout at the Subway or Burger King and have a picnic on the Great Wall. Feel free to ask your tour guide if you want to do this nice experience. 

You will have two optional ways for travelling up and down the Wall: round-way cable car and round-way chairlift (or toboggan). You can decide which option you prefer when you arrive. If you choose to go by cable car or the chairlift, it will take seven minutes to reach the top of the Wall, instead of going up by foot might take you 45 minutes climbing steps. (RMB100/US$15 per person for a single-way, RMB140/US$20 per person for a round-way, both at your own expense.).

Toboggan Take toboggan down the mountain

Cable car ascends to and descends from the 14th watchtower. From there, walk east to the 23rd watchtower on the most beautiful part of the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. And chairlift ascends to the 6th watchtower. It would be a high challenge hiking from the 6th to the 23rd watchtower. According to your physical condition, most of our customers who take the chairlift up and down, hike from tower 6 to tower 14 and turn back to tower 6. Take a toboggan down the mountain which is fun. (If you want to take one-way cable car and one-way chairlift or toboggan, you need to pay the price difference CNY100 per person at your own expense.)

Mutianyu Great Wall Less crowded and fully-restored section

3:30 pm - 6:00 pm, Transfer Back to Your Hotel in Beijing.

Going back to your hotel in Beijing will normally take about 2 hours. Likewise, for Beijing train stations. Going to Beijing Capital Airport directly normally takes about 2 hours from Mutianyu.

We will transfer you to your hotel at the end of the tour. If you need to catch a flight or a train after the tour, we are more than happy to help you arrange it. Let us know at the time of booking.

What Do I Need To Bring

  • A moderate amount of walking is involved. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
  • Please be ready and waiting in your hotel lobby 10 minutes prior to your scheduled pick up time.

  • Minimum number of participants required for the tour to run is 3. Tour may be canceled in case of minimum number of participants not met. You will get a full refund.
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off services are available within the 3rd Ring Zone of Beijing City.
  • You will receive details about tour guide and exact pickup time in your voucher the day before. And the tour guide will also contact you through hotel or leave a message for you regarding the exact pickup time the night before tour. 
  • Not wheelchair accessible. Not recommended for travelers with back problems and pregnant travelers.

What If My Hotel Is Outside The Pickup Area？

If your hotel is outside of the 3rd Ring Zone in Beijing, you can

1. Book an additional transfer service with us. Cost will be advised by your travel advisor according to your hotel location.

2. You may go to one of meeting hotels below. Transportation is at your own expense. Meeting time will be confirmed and email you one day earlier.

Cancellation Policy

  • We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 48 hours or less before event.
  • Ours operate rain or shine. In periods of extreme or unsafe weather, we will discuss with you for alternative arrangements or cancel the tour at our discretion and provide a refund.
