Hotel Pick-up Visit Hanyangling Mausoleum

This is the Day 2 of this trip, in the morning your guide will be waiting for you at your hotel lobby (or any other appointed address) at around 7:30 am (the exact departure time will be given by your guide at Day 1) and you’ll be picked-up and transferred to our first destination of the day – Hanyangling Mausoleum by our clean and comfortable vehicle.

It takes about 40 minutes to drive there. This museum has an underground exhibition hall so that people can see the results of the archeological digs in the big mausoleum complex of Emperor Jingdi (also named Liu Qi, 188 to 141 BC) of the Han Dynasty, his wife, officials, dynastic clan members, and commoners.

There is also a graveyard for slaves who built the complex. The archeological dig site only covers a small area, but the whole burial complex is immense. It covers a total area of about 10 square kilometers or 4 square miles.

You'll have change to watch a holographic movie about the history of Emperor Jingdi and Hanyangling Mausoleum.

As Trippest’s VIP guests, you will be approved to enter into the restoration laboratory to take a close look at the procedure of the relics restoration. This laboratory is not opened to public. Your guide will introduce the basic knowledge and skills of restoration. And staffs there restore the relics in live presentation. If you are an antiquary or a fan of cultural relics, feel free to communicate with these restorers.

Lunch at Yan Yu Jiang Hu Restaurant (晏域江湖餐厅)

We will have lunch at a well selected local restaurant called Yan Yu Jiang Hu Restaurant (晏域江湖餐厅) on the way back to city center where most local people liked. You will have chance to taste the most authentic Shaanxi local food.

Good to know:

  • Can I choose my own food style? Please tell your guide your preference for food such as: vegetarian food, no spicy, no sugar etc. Your guide will help you order your food based on your requirement. But please keep in mind that all the dishes are shared with other members - yes, sharing food is a Chinese traditional table manner.

Visit Tangbo Art Museum

After lunch, we will visit a very small but featured private owned art museum called Tangbo Art Museum which possesses a collection of Shaanxi folk arts and representative ancient paintings exhibited in historical sequence.

You’ll have chance to have a Chinese calligraphy class, Chinese Tea ceremony class or a Chinese paper-cutting class here with a professional English-speaking teacher which I believe it would be a highlight of the day!

Visit Shaanxi History Museum

Then, we will visit another completely different museum the Shaanxi History Museum. It is a huge museum exhibited more than 370,000 historical relics which has vividly displayed the traditional culture and arts of ancient China from Neolithic Period to modern society and is the first large-scale modern museum in China. You’ll get a full view of Chinese history and civilization through these exhibitions and relics.

  • What if it is too crowded to hear the guide? Don’t worry! In order to maximum your travel experience, we have prepared a FM headset to escape from the noise so that you can hear your guide clearly.

Exterior Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda

Finally we will drive to the south square of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It is a 9-floor Buddhism Tower along with a temple called Temple of Great Maternal Grace was built by the Emperor Li Zhi of Tang Dynasty to memorize his mother Empress Wende. After the temple was built, Li Zhi invited the famous Monk Xuan Zang (known as Tang Monk in the famous book of The Journey to the West) as the honored master here in the temple.

Master Xuan Zang lived here and had brought lots of Buddhism sutras from India. He translated the Buddhism text here and had brought the religion of Buddhism from India to China. You can take a picture with the statue of Master Xuan Zang. But please keep in mind that those statues are all man-made, they can not protect you or bless you except the only true God who created the world and human being.

"Beijing tour with William"

Reviewed June 24, 2017

We had the 2-day Beijing tour last weekend...the tour was awesome, and William was an amazing guide! In two days, we were able to see so many sights (Great Wall, Tiananman Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Silk and Pearl markets, Chinese acrobatic show, etc.). The tour had great use of time in order to fit a lot in, not to mention skipping many lines and other tourist inefficiencies. William was very personable and taught us a great deal via his knowledge of China history and current culture. We left China feeling less like customers and more like good friends with William because of his personal approach. You can't go wrong *** with William!

"Beijing 2 day tour"

Reviewed June 23, 2017

Our guide was Cactus. She was very knowledgeable of Chinese history and she made it very interesting while we were touring around for the 2 days. Sadly the weather was bad and we never managed to get up to the Great Wall by cable car etc. She did take us to an area where we could see the wall though, which all in the group really appreciated. Generally, a great tour albeit the weather wasn't on our side. Highly recommend Cactus as a tour guide. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
