View Detailed Itinerary of Day 1

Hotel Pick-up Visit Summer Palace

In the morning your guide will be waiting for you at your hotel lobby (or any other appointed address) at around 7:30 am (the exact departure time will be given by your guide at Day 1) and you’ll be picked-up and transferred to our first destination of the day – Summer Palace by our clean and comfortable vehicle.

Summer Palace is the largest imperial royal garden in the world which was built by the Chinese Emperor Qianlong in Qing dynasty as a gift for his mother’s birthday!

You’ll see the wisdoms and treasures of traditional Chinese architecture art while you walking in this garden. It is about 273 hectares in size and is composed of three main scenic areas: the palace area, lake area, and mountain area.

You’ll visit the Summer Palace by taking a dragon boat on the lake which is the best way to visit Summer Palace (the boat trip is not available in winter as the lake would be frozen) and, on the way you will have a chance to view all of the beautiful palaces at the side of the lake.

After the boat trip, you will walk along a long corridor which is regarded as the longest art gallery in the world and has 14,000 Chinese traditional paintings on the beams.

Visit the Olympic Sites Including the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube

After visiting the Summer Palace you’ll pass by the 2008 Beijing Olympics sites including the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube for a photo opportunity. Your guide will show you the best angle for taking a panoramic view of the stadium.

Lunch at Da Wan Ju restaurant

Lunch will be served at Da Wan Ju restaurant which serves traditional Beijing local food. Your guide will help you to order the food loved by local people.

Good to know:

  • Can I choose my own food style? Please tell your guide your preference for food such as: vegetarian food, no spicy, no sugar etc. Your guide will help you order your food based on your requirement. But please keep in mind that all the dishes are shared with other members - yes, sharing food is a Chinese traditional table manner.

Visit Jingshan Park

Remember we have visited the Forbidden City in Day 1? Still being amazed by these palaces and treasures? This afternoon we will change another angle to have a panoramic view of the Forbidden City at Jingshan Park which is located behind the Forbidden City. Standing on the 479-meter high hill you’ll have the best position to get a panoramic view of this large Palace Museum which you should not miss.

Visit the Temple of Heaven

After visiting Jingshan Park, we will head to the Temple of Heaven. This is the place where ancient Chinese emperors used to worship their “Gods”. The Altar, Echo Wall, and spectacular Imperial Vault are the highlights.

You’ll find the Hall of Abstinence is a special place that those emperors uses this palace for fasting before they held a ceremony to pray for a good harvest and would abstain from meat and wine. Usually the emperor go to this palace three days in advance with no drinking, no entertainment, no mourning and paying no attentions to any sins and crimes being committed which showed his piousness to his god.

However, those emperors do not really know that there’s only one true God who saved His people by His grace through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." - 【Ephesians 2:8-10 (ESV)】

May God bless His people in China through His Words to open their heart let them knowing that You are the only true God.

"Beijing tour with William"

Reviewed June 24, 2017

We had the 2-day Beijing tour last weekend...the tour was awesome, and William was an amazing guide! In two days, we were able to see so many sights (Great Wall, Tiananman Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Silk and Pearl markets, Chinese acrobatic show, etc.). The tour had great use of time in order to fit a lot in, not to mention skipping many lines and other tourist inefficiencies. William was very personable and taught us a great deal via his knowledge of China history and current culture. We left China feeling less like customers and more like good friends with William because of his personal approach. You can't go wrong *** with William!

"Beijing 2 day tour"

Reviewed June 23, 2017

Our guide was Cactus. She was very knowledgeable of Chinese history and she made it very interesting while we were touring around for the 2 days. Sadly the weather was bad and we never managed to get up to the Great Wall by cable car etc. She did take us to an area where we could see the wall though, which all in the group really appreciated. Generally, a great tour albeit the weather wasn't on our side. Highly recommend Cactus as a tour guide. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
